Underfloor Heating

Underfloor heating has been around for about 50 years. It consists of a carefully laid grid of heating pipes under the surface of the floor, effectively turning the floor into one big radiator.

As it has to be laid before the floor is put down, underfloor heating is ideally suited to new build homes (or commercial builds) and provides an efficient and effective way of heating your room, while at the same time keeping your feet toasty!

Because underfloor heating covers the the entire floor, it provides a very even heat throughout the room and eliminates cold spots, which can be created when using conventional radiators usually placed against a single wall.

Types of Underfloor Heating

Underfloor heating is available as 'wet' and 'electric'. When most people think about underfloor heating they are thinking about wet underfloor heating, where a system of pipes are concealed in your floor and are filled with warm water, provided by your boiler. Electric underfloor heating is easier to install and retrofit, but costs approx. 3 times as much to run as wet underfloor heating.

Is Underfloor Heating For Me?

We would usually only recommend Wet Underfloor Heating in new builds or when adding an extension to your property. It is possible to retrofit underfloor heating to existing floors, but not without significant disruption.

We are specialists in installing underfloor heating throughout Northern Ireland and are happy to advise you on the suitability and costs for your property.
